Why train at Qixing Martial Arts Institute instead of another martial arts school?
- We teach real martial arts and are not oriented toward sport or tournament competition. Tournaments impose artificial rules and engender a competitive attitude (and often result in mere brawling or exhibition). We do not practice "point sparring" and do not break boards. Our focus is on the real effectiveness of our techniques and we emphasize self-improvement instead of measuring success through competition.

Gongfu (kung fu) has the unfortunate reputation of being "soft" or merely a performance art. This situation is often the result of poor or outdated forms of instruction. Our instructors, on the other hand, have created a diversified hybrid curriculum that combines both traditional and modern techniques from several different styles in the Shaolin family to meet the demands of the contemporary martial artist.
- While Chinese martial arts training can offer among the most difficult physical and athletic challenges, its effectiveness does not rely purely on strength but, rather, on proper skill and technique. Unlike many other martial arts, our programs are effective for all ages, from childhood all the way through old age (we don't see many eighty-year-old boxers, for example).
